Job Description

Monitor the parking lot, issue claim tickets and collect fees. Monitor security conditions, and contact tow trucks or police when needed. Parking spaces are being used by employees and clients at ULMS and museum guest at NAAM, and that employees and residents are parked in designated areas..

Responsibilities:

Greet employees & clients; customer service.

Must be able to issue parking tags to place in windshield.

Collect fees for weekend parking. On weekend non ULMS clients may park for a fee. Any unauthorized cars will be towed at car owners expense.

Keep parking area clean and orderly to ensure that space usage is maximized.

Requirements :

High School Education or GED certificate

Ability to communicate clearly

Critical thinking to resolve or identify alternative solutions/approaches to resolve problems.

Hours:
Rate of Pay $8.00


Certified Academic Teacher, Summer University Program

SUMMARY

Seeking elementary level teachers with a general education focus to lead morning academic support classes.

The mission of the Urban League’s Education Department is to provide educational experiences and enhancements for youth, especially those who face unique challenges because of racism, classism, and language bias.  We prepare youth to be educated leaders, lifelong learners, and active members of a global society.

Our summer program is open to students entering 1st through ninth grade. The schedule for Summer University 2008 is weekdays June 30 th-August 8 th. The program will be held on campus at the University of Washington. Students receive academic support in the morning and participate in theme-based classes and internships in the afternoon exposing students to the arts, literature, media literacy, technology, natural science, recreation, leadership and critical thinking. This year’s theme is Healthy Living: Feeding the Mind, Body and Soul.

Students will be in multi-grade level groups (1 st & 2 nd graders, 3 rd-5 th graders, 6 th-8 th graders), please indicate in your cover-letter if you have a group-level preference.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Implement a 6-week general studies curriculum based on your areas of teaching expertise
  • Design lesson plans for daily 2 hr. block period of core academic review
  • Infuse hands-on activities with language/math/ science instruction
  • Lead daily lessons with a class size of approximately 20 students.
  • Ability to facilitate curriculum with students at varying learning levels
  • Provide direction for support staff of Teaching Assistants & Interns
  • Applicants must be available for entire program period: June 30 th-August 8 th. Contract terms are M-F, 8am-1pm

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Teachers delivering academic instruction in the morning must be certificated and have significant experience in the classroom. All instructors must possess strong classroom management skills and successful experience working with students of color and a range of socio-economic background. Applicants must also demonstrate the ability to develop lessons that address multiple learning styles and a summer enrichment environment.

Flexibility and dependability are attributes required of all candidates.
