Contractor Development & Competitiveness Center
About Us
The
Contractor Development and Competitiveness Center (CDCC) was established
by a grant from the City of Seattle to the Urban League of Metropolitan
Seattle. The purpose in creating the CDCC was to provide assistance and
support to small businesses who are not fully participating in the
contracting opportunities in this region. The grant was made by Seattle
Mayor Greg Nickels in July of 2002 and the Urban League received the funds
in October of 2002. A Temporary team was put in place to begin the
development of the CDCC and a permanent Executive Director began work
April, 2003.
Philosophy
A contractor with strong business operating skills,
strong relationships, and the availability of timely technical assistance
will experience performance success.
Financial success will be achieved through the
establishment of effective information and knowledge of management
systems. These will create development and learning opportunities for
M/W/D/ESBs while fostering a spirit of self-sufficiency and independence.
The CDCC is challenged to foster the collaborative
environment to enhance the small contractors to derive wealth from an
industry historically recognized for its small profit margins.
