Homebuyers Program
Pre-purchase counseling and education is available to prepare homebuyers. ULMS is an additional layer of support to homebuyers supporting their ultimate success of purchasing an affordable home. This is a 5 hour course approved by the Washington State Housing Finance Commission. Workshop give potential buyers all the steps and information required to make transition into homeownership.
When available, ULMS offers down payment assistance to eligible low to moderate income families through various funded programs. Additionally, the housing department offers follow-up non-default and post-purchase counseling and education to homebuyers in support of sustaining and properly maintaining their asset. Inquire about the home buying city limit requirements, the median income levels, and down payment assistance eligibilities.
Fair Housing and Predatory Lending information are topics addressed and integrated into all homebuyer sessions. ULMS works closely with the Seattle Office of Civil Rights to provide up to date information on fair housing laws in general and prohibited actions in mortgage lending. Certificates are given at the end of the workshop and are valid for 2 years.
