Programs
The Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle provides Education, Employment, and Housing programs to assist African
Americans, other people of color, and disadvantaged individuals to become
self-sufficient.
Education Division
The Education Department serves K-8 school age youth. The children are
provided with a safe and nurturing environment that is conducive to
learning from 2:pm to 5:30pm daily. Many children are picked up from
school by our van. After-school education services include Individual
Tutor Plans, 1000 Hours of Reading, and the Triangle that brings
together the student/family, school and UL Education staff for a Student
Life Plan. Art projects, Humanities workshops, Youth Cultural Seminars,
and Collage Resource Information are mainstays of our school and summer
calendar. Most recruitment comes from referrals from public schools of
long-standing and new partnerships. The Summer Children's University, in
session from June to August; serves approximately 50 youth Call our

Employment Division
The Employment Department offers the following services to job seekers:

- Local on-line employment searches
- Individualized assistance for career exploration
- Resource center
- Resume development & cover letter refinement
- Retention services
- Transportation assistance
- Job readiness resources
The Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle's case managers work with
individuals one on one to ensure they are job ready and a good match for
employers. The job resource center is open Monday through Friday, 8:00
a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Case managers can be reached at (206) 461-3792.
Housing Division
The Housing Program includes four basic Housing Elements:
- Rental Search
- Pre Purchase
- Mortgage Default Counseling
- Rental Search
- Landlord Tenant
- Washington State Approved Continuing Education
Classes for Real Estate Agents
- Credit and Budget Classes
- Reverse Mortgage Counseling
These elements represent the efforts of the League to increase clients'
basic knowledge of housing resources and requirements critical to
