The Children’s University Summer program is housed on the University of Washington campus. Our goal is for children to be exposed to a college experience. They receive academic support in the morning through specialized curriculum and participate in classes and seminars in the afternoon that expose students to the arts, literature, media literacy, physical education, natural science, recreation and critical thinking.

Program Highlights

  1. Program is offered full days for 6 weeks during the summer.
  2. Balanced ratio of staff to students for optimal individualized attention.
  3. Certified Teachers are enlisted for morning academic programs.
  4. 1000 Hours Program is incorporated into the morning academic programming.
  5. Leadership workshops.
  6. Specialized Humanities classes and lectures.
  7. Individual piano lessons, band and jazz chorus.
  8. Fine Arts classes including ceramics and painting.
  9. Theatre and Dance classes.
  10. Past off-site courses have included: Sailing through the Center for Wooden Boats, Film Production through Seattle Film Institute, Media Literacy with King 5 TV.
  11. Other field experiences include trips to the Children’s Museum, Tillicum Village, Pacific Science Center, Woodland Park Zoo, Klondike Gold Rush Museum, Seattle Asian Art Museum, the Ballard Locks, the Northwest Forest and more…

Potential students interview with staff to determine areas of interest. Students receive individualized schedules based on interviews, age, skill level and space availability.
